Mere Words

Which is better;
To be you or be us?
The gap is so wide that I extend our hand
And still you don't see.

Mere words do not grow you eyes,
Mere sights do not grow you ears.
When everything you touch is false,
I cannot calm your fears.

This is why you were given faith:
So that you may have all without understanding.
This is why you were given law:
To solidify your faith.

A child may only eat the food given,
And children are fed by children.

Time is a river that, for you, passes,
But I cannot tell water from water.
When I dip my feet into the stream,
I can only see the trees around, but you do not.

Outside of the cave is a cave;
Each time you go outside into a cave.
Look within what is within the cave,
And freedom follows.

Then ears and eyes will grow.
There will be no laws or fears.
You will dip your feet in the streams of heaven,
And never again know years.

You will have built a bridge over the gap,
And find new ways to show the rest.
Understanding will be your peace;
To teach will be your greatest test.

You'll see why we are so alone,
In this place of one.
The tears will fall from our eyes
As we gaze upon the sun.
